Bishop Herman Dean Ware, Jr.

Bishop Herman D. Ware, Jr., M.Ed. is the Senior Pastor of Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church. Bishop Ware is the 7th pastor to lead Oakley since the church began in 1896. Bishop Ware’s pastoral style focuses on preaching and teaching the Word of God, as well as team-centered leadership in administering the operations of Oakley.

Bishop Ware is married to the lovely and elegant Lady Karla Ware. They are the parents of Kailey Morgan Ware and Herman Dean Ware, III. Lady Ware is an anointed teacher and a gifted counselor with a heart for mentoring and molding young ladies.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Bishop Ware received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior under the pastorate of Bishop Emery Lindsay, Senior Bishop of the Churches of Christ (Holiness) USA. Through his pre-teen and high school years, his love for music ministry grew and in 1987, the Holy Ghost first filled him.

Upon rededicating his life to Christ in 1991, Ware became connected to the pastorate and tutelage of Bishop Russell L. Freeman and the United Community Cathedral. It was under Bishop Freeman’s pastorate that he became a deacon, accepted his call to preach, was licensed as a minister (1993), and ordained as an elder (1994). After many years of faithful service to United, Bishop Freeman appointed Elder Ware as an Overseer in United. Outside of the local church, then Overseer Ware served in various leadership positions on the national level in the Kingdom with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, New Vision Jurisdictional Fellowship, and Christians Equipping Christians for Outreach Fellowship (CECO).

Under the leading of the Holy Ghost, in 2009 Bishop Freeman consecrated Overseer Ware into the Bishopric. As a Founding Father and prelate in CECO, Bishop Ware serves as the Executive Secretary for the Fellowship. Bishop Ware began his pastoral ministry at Morgan Street Baptist Church – Boonville, MO. Along with this pastorate, he previously served as a congress vice president – State of Missouri (Central District) of the National Baptist Association.

Having earned his Master of Education in Higher Education Administration (cum laude) from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Bishop Ware continues to utilize what he learned in the world to the glory of God. He believes in placing a strong emphasis on ministering the Word of the Lord with an emphasis on deliverance and prophesy. Bishop Ware’s ministry includes training ministers and churches, serving as a revivalist, operating in the Gifts of the Spirit, and what first drew him to Christ – music ministry.
