Mission

-Heal the brokenness and broken dreams of Oakley members
-Disciple the body of Christ in the use of biblical principles
-Break the spirit of poverty
-Teach people to impact their economic circumstances

These missions can only be done from a place of pure motives by this group and through
the leading of the Holy Spirit.

 

Vision

Every member of Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church applies the biblical principles pertaining to financial matters so they can further the kingdom of God and help their fellow man/woman.

 

Areas of Oakley’s Financial Ministry


Biblical Principles
-The Bible as a credible source of financial direction
-How God’s financial system works
-Godly prosperity
-Honesty & integrity
-Stewardship/accountability
-Tithing- history of tithing, Robbing God, benefits
-Offering (examine motives for giving, purposing what’s in our hearts to prevent giving grudgingly
-alms (most neglected area when teaching on finances; teaching on the importance of helping the poor- God’s heart, danger of accumulation, personal benevolence fund
- Seed

Budgeting- must live within our means

 

Debt Elimination:

Biblical principle
Examining myths about debt
Changing mindsets
Psychological reasons for getting into debt

Saving:
- Lack of savings is sometimes a reason for having debt
-Emergency fund
-Proper Insurance

 

-Retirement

-Methods of Relaying Information

-Periodic seminars from individuals within Oakley and external individuals who have expertise in financial matters.

-Sunday School Class

-Mandatory counseling sessions: members who have asked for financial assistance from Oakley

-Newsletter or inserts in Church Bulletin

-Marriage Counseling: Those who are seeking to re-unite in marriage should go through Pastoral and financial counseling. The financial counselor can provide a report to the Pastor.

-One-on-One financial assistance by one of Oakely’s financial counselor.

 

Caution: individuals must be sincere in moving forward in improving their financial situation; if not, these can lead to abuse of counselors time.

Target Groups

This ministry will have a benefit for all members within Oakley. There are some target groups that are worth noting.

 

-Everyone

 

-Women
-Outlives men by seven years
-Due to child rearing may be out of the workforce for several years and unable
to take advantage of retirement planning
-Tendency to leave financial matters to husband
- More concerned about others than themselves

 

Young Adults
-Recent College graduates who has landed a full time job: participating in
employer retirement plan. It’s not too early to save for retirement
-Taking advantage of the “time” factor for investing- Time is on Young people
side

 

Children (some classes taught in conjunction with parents)

- allowances
-teaching children early about money
-tithing, paying themselves, saving for a purpose
-utilizing games and other children friendly media
